Wind Farm Environmentally Sound Says Fed Agency

The controversial Cape Wind Energy Project got a boost last week when a report by the Minerals Management Service said the project would pose no major environmental problems.

Developer
Cape Wind Associates hopes to build 130 windmills across 25 miles of federal
waters in Nantucket Sound, making it the nation's first
offshore windfarm. The federal agency looked at the project's effect in areas including water
quality, wildlife, air traffic, the fishing industry, recreation and
tourism and gave it a clean bill of health. Public hearings in March will further determine the fate of the project which was first proposed more than six years ago. See MSNBC article.
