Students Showcase Art at Featherstone

Featherstone Teen Art

Walker Roman with one of the many works he has on display in the current Featherstone show daily through Sunday.

In the winter, Featherstone invites any and all island artists to show their work at the gallery on their beautiful arts campus in Oak Bluffs. Participating artists set the hours for these shows and must staff the gallery for the run of the show. This means that the artists themselves are usually on hand to chat with visitors.

The current show features pottery and drawings and paintings by students of MVRHS art teachers Janice Frame and Scott Campbell. Revisited is the name of the show and it will hang through Sunday.

Next up is photography by high school kids. The Center of Creative Expression, the group run for many years by Chris and Janice Baer, will feature work by a number of Janice's talented high school students. The show opens on Saturday April 12 with a reception from 4-6 and will then be on view Sunday April 13 from 11-1 and Wednesday the 16th from 2:30-4:30.

Be sure to check this one out. The Center for Creative Expression has held quite a few really interesting shows at the Featherstone in the last few years and the kids are always eager to talk about their methods and inspiration. Everything in the current and upcoming show is for sale and reasonably priced, so this is a great opportunity to invest in young artists.
