Martha's Vineyard International Film Festival

In its second year, the Martha's Vineyard International Film Festival will build on its freshman year success by adding more programs and a variety of events to the weekend long festival. This year Plum has also come on board as Presenting Sponsor of the festival. According to film festival co-directors Richard Paradise and Nevette Previd, Plum's sponsorship of the event will play an active role in content integration and the creation of new programs and events that will enhance the Festival experience for all participants. This year all of the MVI Film Festival screenings and nighttime events will be centralized around Vineyard Haven’s Main Street. Created and designed as a “Walking Festival District,” events will include a Gallery Stroll on Saturday; and live musical performances by local artists on Saturday and Sunday in a series dubbed Music on Main. The opening night party on the roofdeck will feature music by Phil DaRosa, while the wrap-up party at the Oyster Bar and Grill will be a blow-out event with World Music by Mama Dou. A daily refuge for festival goers will be afternoon tea hosted by the English Butler in the lobby of the Vineyard Playhouse.

Additionally, the historical Capawock Theatre has been added as a festival premiere-screening venue. The addition of the Capawock will increase the number of screenings and overall festival capacity.Says Paradise "What makes the Martha’s Vineyard International Film Festival so special is not just the care taken to select the best of contemporary international cinema, with relevance for local audiences. It’s also the small, intimate venues in which the films will be shown. Attendees can interact and discuss the films or just sit back and be entertained.”

The Film Festival will run from Sept. 13-16. For more information and to purchase tickets check out - Martha's Vineyard Film Society

Tickets will also be available from Thursday on at the Mansion House front desk.
