Plum on TV Channel 76

A Warm and Fuzzy Show

On a rainy day, John and Guinevere got cozy inside the barn with the fuzzy flock at Island Alpaca. Owner Barbara Ronchetti and a somewhat shy little fellow named Cocoa Puff were our first guests.

Next Ocean Park Realty's Alan Schweikert filled John Clese in on the state of the Vineyard market. Then, students from the Edgartown School talked about their drive to get laptop computers for every student.

John and Guinevere gave a recap of the hotly contested beer and wine ballot and we showed some footage from the much anticipated recount.

Next week we'll be at the Whipporwhill Farm with Susan Gibbs of the MV Fiber Farm and others. See you there!

Green Earth, Green Thumbs

We celebrated spring and Earth Day with a show from Jardin Mahoney, where all the colors of the season were bursting forth. Paul Mahoney launched our new feature - Ask Paul - where he answers viewer submitted questions. And it seems that people are preparing their grounds for the upcoming summer. Paul talked about eliminating moss and pruning hydrangeas, among other things.

Next Ocean Park Realty's Alan Schweikert filled John Clese in on the state of the Vineyard market. Guinevere sat down with the National MS Society's Liz Strawn who talked about the upcoming benefit Bike Ride, which last year raised $500,000 for the NMSS!

We showed a piece from the island-wide Earth Day Beach Clean-up with Jane Loutzenheiser interviewing the organizers and other folks who pitched in last Saturday to keep our island beautiful.

Next week we'll be at the new Sharky's in Edgartown with Susan Gibbs of the MV Fiber Farm and others. See you there!

Flying Into Spring

Did you know that all of the wooden horses of our famous carousel has a little trinket in each of its eyes? We found that out and much more this week, as we visited the Flying Horses carousel.

A sure sign of spring, the Flying Horses are loosed from their winter slumber and invite little riders during school vacation week. Plum headed down to the iconic carousel in Oak Bluffs this week to get a preview.

The Music Show

Plum visited Che's Lounge this week for an all music show. Guinevere and Alex were joined by local singer/songwriter Colin Ruel, who talked about growing up on the island and touring with friend Willy Nelson. Then Bob Lee spoke to Guinevere about non-profit community radio statio WVVY which launched last year with the goal of bringing many styles of music and local bands to listeners. We finished the show with Colin playing three original tunes.

All About Jenney Way

The Island Affordable Housing Fund's latest project Jenney Way in Edgartown is just about ready for occupancy. Plum dropped by one of the units and spoke to some of the key players this week.

Guinevere spoke to South Mountain CEO John Abrams whose firm designed and built the homes. He is very excited about some of the green innovations he was able to include in the project.

Then Tina got a chance to catch up with IAHF Director Pat Manning. They've had a very busy and productive winter and Pat discussed Jenney Way as well as the next affordable housing project in the works.

Two video clips from other Plum markets round out the show. From Plum Miami, we show an interview with fashion designer Barbara Hulanicki who founded Biba. And from Vail, Iron Chef Cat Cora hosts the Master Chef Challenge.
