A recent article in the Escapes section of the New York Times entitled A Soft Market Offers Some Buyers a Second Chance reported on something we here on the Vineyard already knew - the Vineyard market is suffering. However, from the viewpoint of the Times' readers, this is a good thing.
As Jean Kelleher of Kelleher Real Estate notes in the piece “People who were kicking themselves a few years ago, wishing they’d
bought before being priced out of the market, have the opportunity to
get in, particularly at the lower end.” So, if you're thinking of buying a primary residence on the Vineyard, you better get serious before a bunch of Manhattanites flock to the island to grab up second homes.
