Martha's Vineyard: What's Going On

No Need to Panic

Jaws Float

This is most likely the only Great White we'll see on the Fourth of July.

Although there have been at least two reliable sources reporting sightings of a Great White Shark off Menemsha Beach this past week, Plum has it directly from the mayor of MV that "The beaches will be open for the Fourth of July weekend." It appears there's no threat to anyone's safety, or to our 2008 tourist season. If anything, this alleged man-eater may bring the curious over to the island for a little early summer boost. See story about the sightings in the MV Times.
