Martha's Vineyard

Flashback to the 70s

Dilly Walsh was famous for hosting big blow-out parties from 1968 on at the "Green Cabeen" on Lagoon Pond. People hung out, ate, drank, played music and danced - until sunrise encouraged revelers to head home to recuperate. Dilly is still known throughout the island for his sense of humor, generosity and funloving personality. Unfortunately, last Sept. Dilly was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) But fortunately for us all, he has joined forces with Ron Hoffman to promote Compassionate Care ALS - a support group that raises funds to help ALS patients and their caregivers with the expenses involved with the devastating illness.

TONIGHT Dilly will resurrect the spirit of those 70s free-for-all parties - only this time he'll have a lot of help from his many influential friends. His many supporters have donated fantastic "Possible Dreams" type auction items such as tix to the MTV Music Awards, 4th row homeplate Yankees tickets, a golf fantasy trip, valuable local artwork and the list goes on and on. Johnny Hoy will be rocking the house, the Oyster Bar is catering and the booze will be flowing . Dilly promises that he's "as crazy at 60 as I was at 21" and that tonight's party will "outdo them all" Along with his old party buddies from the day, friends Sen John Kerry, MTV founder Tom Freston, CEO of Delight Barry Roy and a who's who list of guests will be on hand to help raise money for the first ever CCALS group. Dilly's hope is that his and Hoffman's efforts will help jumpstart a nationwide network of charitable support groups for ALS.

Party at 320 Middle Road starts at 5 and will go "until the cows come home" according to Dilly. Park at the old Chilmark Flea Mkt. Tix are $100 from 5-8 (includes auction) or $50 from 8 on for the fantastic, kick off your shoes, kick out the jams, let your hair down and relive (or experience) the 70s fun! All are welcome.
