Did you know that there are now sheep and goats doing the mowing at Felix Neck? Or that the resident barn owls just gave birth - and you can watch the family doing their owly thing on a monitor? We found all this out from Felix Neck director Suzan Bellincampi when we visited the Sanctuary for a much needed spring field trip.
Suzan talked to John about all their upcoming events, including Earth Hour, when citizens of the world are asked to turn out their lights for one evening hour to raise awareness of global warming. Felix Neck is one of the local organizations participating, and they invite the public to join them for some fun outdoor nighttime observation (which might include owl watching) on the 29th of this month.
Moving on to human habitats, Guinevere spoke to Habitat for Humanity's Jerry Fritz about their new lot in Edgartown. Construction will begin soon and he explained the application process for the family who will inhabit the new house. Jerry explained what it takes to qualify and how you can sign up for the selection, which begins on the 22nd of this month. He also spoke about the longstanding history of H for H on the island.
We also debut clips from the recent public hearing on the Cape Wind project and the Hospital's annual Health Fair.
