Roy Scheider, the actor who played Police Chief Martin Brody in the 1975 blockbuster Jaws,
died yesterday at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in
Little Rock. The hospital did not release the cause of his death, but
Scheider had been treated for multiple myeloma at the hospital for the
past two years.

Filmed on the shores of Martha’s Vineyard, Jaws was the

famous line, “You’re gonna need a bigger boat,” is #35 on the American
Film Institute’s list of best movie quotes.

Although made famous for a movie made on the Vineyard, Scheider was a Hamptons regular. Check out a 2006 Plum interview with him in the Hamptons.
