Martha's Vineyard: Archives

Plum is the New Black

This morning the New York Times posted a story about how the color and name "plum" seems to be popping up more and more in advertising these days. They included a mention of little ol' us, and we're just so darn flattered that we figured we should let everyone know. (...we didn't say we were shy.)

Signs of Spring

Flying Horses

The weather may still be chilly, but the first hints of the season popped up along with the crocuses this weekend. Circuit Ave was not exactly bustling, but pretty busy compared to its typical winter traffic. A couple of early openings brought people (especially kids) out to Oak Bluffs, and Shibori had its grand opening, the tie-dye boutique becoming the first new store on island.

YMCA of MV Architects

John Clese sits down with architects Stephanie Mashek and Kenneth MacLean about the plans for the new YMCA building. Stephanie and Kenneth - a married couple who work together at the same firm - talk about the new pool, gym, and teen center. The segment also features some floor plans and a 3D model of what the completed building will look like.

Now is the Time to Buy

A recent article in the Escapes section of the New York Times entitled A Soft Market Offers Some Buyers a Second Chance reported on something we here on the Vineyard already knew - the Vineyard market is suffering. However, from the viewpoint of the Times' readers, this is a good thing.

Suzan Bellincampi from Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary

John Clese sat down with Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary Director Suzan Bellincampi to talk about the sanctuary's programs like Moonlight Meanders, and the Woodcock Wander. Vampire Weekend on Plum

Vampire Weekend has blossomed. They've now played on SNL, graced the cover of Spin and might just have been this year's "it" band at SXSW. Lucky TV network that we are, Plum packed them in for their first ever TV appearance in a segment of Juan's Basement. Get the kefir off your keffiyeh, and check them out.
